Hello david

It takes more fossil fuel resources to produce new vehicles than it would take to maintain and fuel any 70's or 80's vehicle for a million miles.

Re: Hello all
Damn radiator sprung a leak, dumps about a gallon per mile, heats right up - never red zoned it, seems to be coming from the top portion of the radiator.
Got it out now inspecting for cause.

Re: Hello all
Seems its where the top end cap is jointed with the flit reservoir of the radiator, looks like the seam was bonded with some kind of lead or some kind of soft metal, it has deteriorated and coolant seeps from it relentlessly, I'm attempting to seal it with epoxy and avoid replacing it with one of those plastic POS.

Re: Hello all
Yea but I need it running today, I'll have to wait 12 - 48 hours for a replacement it'll have plastic top and bottom caps - plus I don't have that kind of scratch.
Epoxy should take 5 hours till temp/water proof cure.

Re: Hello all
Yea not that bad till they crack - witch they do in 10,000 - 15,000 miles, I've done this song and dance before.
My epoxy softened up and leaked before it was even at operating temp.
I ought to just scrape that shit out and torch some rosin core into that seam.

Re: Hello all
Good to have it back, plastic radiator is holding up, through 1500 miles of winter driving, still have the old metal one - might be moving to the north bay, I'll re-solder the cap to the passages - boss has a industrial soldering iron that will be perfect so I don't have to risk melting the rails with a LPG torch.
