86 T4 SR5

Post by Jarf »

I know I'm gonna hate myself for doing this but the time has come, however sad, to part with my beloved.

I just don't have time or space to deal with the rust issues (rockers and fenders) that are required.
Mechanically, she is sound and while well used, is in good condition.
Here's the local ad for anyone who cares.

Too bad shipping those wheels would be too much!

you mention your spare parts will go with the car. does this mean you're giving up the search for a mint one?

very bummed for you, jarf. i'm sure it will sell quick though, especially with all the extra stuff (wheels, trans, parts). good luck.

Sadly yes, the search is over, at least for now.

Sometimes life changes and plans have to morph to accommodate.
Just no longer have the time to invest in driving old iron, at least out here as a DD.
Will miss it terribly but sometimes: the needs of the many....

Though, I secretly hope to be back soon.

Or sell the car, and keep the cache of parts!

Hey there! Not so many of us out east in Canada...

I'm worried about my transmission and think I may need a new one. You mention you have a spare one. Any way I could get my hands on it?

I'm in Montréal, but my girlfriend's family is in Waterloo. Sometimes I commute out to Ontario.

Hey Simon
No ones beating a path to my door so I have no problem selling off the loose parts.
Shoot me a PM and we'll work out the details.

You know, if its parts you're looking for, why not just take the whole car.
Front sway bar was brand new from the dealer just 4yrs ago, 3 yrs ago was a new factory rad.
gas tank was rebuilt 2 yrs ago (sender and pick-up tube previously replaced)
You'd have a lifetime supply of parts and another transmission just to be safe!
Theres a pile of rebuildable cores (starter/alt/water pump...) a new (a/m) drivers window regulator.
New hatch struts (missing one of the mounting pins, RA closeout sale)
Thule Roof racks and best of all, the super cool chromed steel rain guards on the all 4 doors,

I'd rather see it go to someone who'll make good use of it and I'm in the mood to play "Let's make a Deal".
My driveway is over full again and the snow is coming, not a good combination of events.
There's also a fresh batch of newly trained MP's with new ticket books waiting to be used.

Seriously though, it would make a great parts car as nearly everything has been changed out at least once.
As far as A/M parts currently on it - Fr pads/rotors, outer tie rods, air filter, battery, headlights and exhaust from the cat back, everything else has been OEM.

If you wanted to fly out and drive it back, I could pick you up at Pearson.

Wish I knew, I much prefer them to the plastic variety and they do work well.
If I thought I could get them off without ruining them, I would but I know better.

Clearly my "what I think it's worth" is way out of whack for the local market.
Which is incredibly funny given all the cars I looked at, the condition they were in and the asking prices.

i have learned that, when it comes to selling cars, people care a lot more about rust than i do. a car can be in perfect working order with a mint condition interior but if a fender is rusted, most people will assume the car is a beater. it's just the nature of dealing with philistines, i suppose.

Can't argue with you there.

Here's the 2nd try, hopefully this stirs some interest.
Will sell the Mr2 rims separately.

Sold for WAY less than I wanted but at least the parking problem is solved.
Just in time, got an inch of snow overnight, all melted now but its getting closer by the minute.

I'll be around and check back often, like the community around here and no doubt there will be another turtle in my future. 19yr habits are REALLY hard to break.
The GV is nice and all but totally lacks character.

Sadly, it all went together as a lot.
No worries.
Have always believed in paying things forward, so I just see this a down payment on what I owe.
I think it went where it was needed the most.
Nice lady, hopefully it treats her as well as it did me.
