New to forum 1984 SR5 4x4 wagon

Post by 0spry0 »

I bought my wagon about about a year ago and it is so fun to drive. I would see these driving around town every once in awhile and thought I have to own one. My girlfriend and I shared a Camry but with work we ended up needing two cars. This is ORWELL my 1984 wagon. Cheers to the Tercel, cheers to the the constant maintenance, and cheers to this forum for helping me a long the way. THANK YOU ALL It's great to belong with people that love this car as much as I do.

are those the stock hub caps on non-stock wheels? did you have to modify them at all to make them work?

I found it on CL for 800.00 it has 322,000 miles. I needed a cheap car to get back and fourth to work because my girlfriend drives my Camry and a 1969 Plymouth Belvedere wagon is not so good on gas. I have always wanted one since the first time I saw one. In Portland these are really hard to come across and the rare ones I did see were out of my price range or junk. Even with the high miles it started right up and said drive me. It's a great car that I've done a lot of work to it with help from the forum and there's still a lot of work to do but this car just keeps on going and it's a blast to drive.

Was this the one on Portland craigslist in Oregon City/Milwaukie area? I'm also in the 300k+ club currently at 318k and rolling. There should be a Tercel club organized in the Portland area, I already know of 2-3 people personally that have them as well that would be game.

If you start one I would like to Join. Been thinking we should get the Portland people together one afternoon at Lucky Labrador on Hawthorne and we could have lunch and talk about our cars.

Well then it looks like we are going to need to start one! I've been wanting to have a reason to silk screen some sort of Tercel inspired t-shirt since I got my '86, and have all the supplies needed to do it. If things progress further I say we should get some sort of off road day trip organized.

I purchased the car from a kid in Camas that got it from his parents. I drove it around Camas and it ran really good despite the fact that the idle was set really high and the brakes were pretty mushy. Everything inside worked so I bought it. On the freeway back to Portland is where I found out the real problems. The inner tie rods and shocks were shot. I replaced those plus the ball joints cause I was tearing everything apart anyway. It's been driving great since.

sounds like a good price, despite the condition. if your transmission is good and it is not full of rust, it is all easy and relatively cheap to fix, and well worth it.

Hey guys, just picked up our '86 Terc this week! Live in Portland and love to meet at Lucky Lab some Sunday and pick your brains on first steps of maintenance, improvements, etc. Absolutely love this thing! :)

I'd love to meet up at the lucky lab but for me it would have to be after Christmas. I work in a toy warehouse and tis the season so I work 6 or 7 days a week. If this becomes a thing let me know there is a slight chance I can make it.
