I'm half way through 'part 1 - Output Shaft Gear Details' then I fell asleep.
It takes more fossil fuel resources to produce new vehicles than it would take to maintain and fuel any 70's or 80's vehicle for a million miles.

See I was lookin at those thinkin they were the answer, I don't have any punches, but I have a bunch of trashy ikea allan keys - or maybe a 16penny nail with the tip clipped off.
I really am not equipped to rebuild a transmission with my tools - funny thing is that my friend that had the hylux/chinook offered me a snap ring pliers set and gear puller just a year ago and I was like "Oh shit you keep that, I'll never use them"

to take the thing apart use the DISASSEMBLE video and skip to the dog removal
i have used nails as punches they work OK until they bend (usually the pins come out easy)
you could break a 5/32 drill and use the shank
Love those Tercell 4x4 wagons but they sure suffer from road noise.

HAH I'm all about breaking some drill bits, though its usually my smallest ones like don't in the 32nds sizes, are these your vids? who is Robert Walker here? I'm actually watching the disassemble vid now with my coffee/cigarette, I'm thinking that transmission may well be parts for an advanced member, I foolishly destroyed many C-clips using hook and pick set/flat head screw driver, probably lost a few bearings like the speedo gear barring, I never saw that little one.
I'm gonna have to get some tools like micrometer and snap ring pliers set before I can become tranny jedi.
Has anyone ever uploaded a transmission removal/installation video to the webz? I think I'll do it if its not already done yet for others to refrence and to show my sister, shes going to school for auto/motorcycle/diesel mechanics.
I'm pretty confident in myself that I know how to do it right now.

I also saved all the gaskets from the tore up tranny, could I just take em to a copy/print shop and make copies and cut em out for reassembly, or would the paper not be good enough.

I think you can use permatex form-a-gastket instead of the paper gaskets (a lot easier than cutting out new ones). I have photo copied the complete set of transmission gaskets if you want a copy. I probably got the last Tercel4wd trans kit in North America, came with a complete set of gaskets.

I'm obsessed with gaskets, I'll use gasket in a tube - but a REAL gasket will never leak if properly prepped and installed.
If photocopied gaskets could work I'll just go ahead and spend 2 or 3 bux at a copy shop.
Maybe I could spray it with some kind of plastic/rubberized aerosol adhesive or sealant to make them stronger and more likely to meld into the mounting surfaces.

GREAT STUFF 1min gasket in a pressurized can is all i will use anymore.

i glue it to tranny part with gasket adhesive
let it dry for a hour or two
then lightly tap out the holes with peen end of ball peen hammer
then cut away excess material
