Re: Transmissions transmissions transmissions
Do you got one for my 87?
Um not sure what info would help, but mine's a 3a, 5spd (3rd & 4th are grinders) 4wd . . .
I'd probably try and cheap it with a CL rideshare. I figgure $50 is good price to pay to have some hipster haul a 100lb gearbox over the sierra's.

It takes more fossil fuel resources to produce new vehicles than it would take to maintain and fuel any 70's or 80's vehicle for a million miles.

Re: Transmissions transmissions transmissions
You could take a 3.7 transmission and swap your 4.1 diff to it.

Re: Transmissions transmissions transmissions
As stated above i have a 3.7 tranny and rear diff complete.
I will NOT sell just the gear box off of a known good oem transmission!
The price is 300 for the entire transaxle and 100 for the rear gear cluster to make it work in your car.
Imo changing the entire thing will provide piece of mind that your good to go.

Re: Transmissions transmissions transmissions
Yea, I'd like to keep it as simple as possible - I don't think I'll be swapping anything more than the gearbox (for now) Lemme know if you change you mind, otherwise I'll just be keeping my eye open for a bay area/puget sound gearbox.
