1985 $500

Post by Gottolovem »

I have not had much time recently to check in due to extra work and my summer will be full as well i finally get to build my own shop on my property.
Anyhow i saved this 85 sr5 from the crusher yesterday and don't have the time to fix it up.
The clock is just under 300k and i suspect it needs an engine rebuild it runs ok but is high miles and will no pass a smog.
For another 200 bucks i will throw another known good 3ac it's at 198k and runs fine( it's from a car with bad tranny).
What is the 3A-U on the valve cover?

Reg is not current but 15 day interstate moving permit is 8 bucks.
The car starts right up but i would need to investigate it a little further to say it will make it over donner pass!
I have some time sunday to give it a little shake down and i'll get back to you.

that is likely a good engine, imported from Japan. That is why one needs to diagnose the problem before you try and fix it.

no smog required up here in the Washington. fix the interior up and clean the rest, getting it running good and it will fetch a nice profit in Puget sound area. I have a several buyers looking for them, but I have NO time for projects. I will forward the emails of people I know looking for nice clean T4wd if anyone wants them.

My T4 won't, running on 2 cylinders

Question is it in good enough shape for a trip by itself, or should it be towed.
How does it drive?

How much do you know of it's history?

The engine had a bad plug wire it runs just fine now(i didn't road test it).
I did not do a compression check because the motor is nice and "snappy"under acceleration no smoke or blow by coming from the tailpipe.
Total lack of maintenance from previous owner brake master empty(indicator light in the cluster was not on)
Power steering pump empty and no belt I refilled it put on a belt the pump is shot(works but howls like a dying dog)the steering rack does feel nice and tight flushing steering rack would be a good idea.
The water outlet housing had a major leak previous owner put stop leak in now it's a minor leak and there is krusty stop leak all around area that needs repairs should be flushed and repaired properly before any road trips can happen(doesn't overheat). Rear driver side door quarter window broken.
Passenger door is a replacement from a DLX no lock rattle can white paint.
odometer is just under 275k
This car is in overall great shape just needs some TLC from someone who knows how.
I don't have the time right now or I would do it myself. For the asking price this could be a great flip in Washington where they fetch a little higher price it needs minor repairs IMO.
Again if intrested i will let buyer cherry pick stuff from parts cars onsite window power steering pump etc.
If you want to do repairs onsite that's fine by me you can crash in my motorhome if needed.
