From dictionary.com:

ter·cel P Pronunciation Key (tûrsl) also tier·cel (tîrsl)
n.
A male hawk used in falconry.

[Middle English, from Old French terçuel, from Vulgar Latin *tertilus, diminutive of Latin tertius, third. See trei- in Indo-European Roots.]

tercel

n : male hawk especially male peregrine or gyrfalcon [syn: tiercel, tercelet]

I guess that's a sort of good description...

I did the same thing about a week ago! :D
Maybe something like Bantam, Grouse, etc., would be more appropriate.

I guess that explains the Blackhawk edition Tercel from the early 90s.

Perfect, it just so happens that tonight I painted falcon (hawk-like bird at least) eyes on the left and right front quarter panels on my '84. Thanks for the info.
