Didn't these have a recall from Toy on the rear shock towers for extreme rust? Or was it the Gen II sedans?
Looks nice, though.

I remember a recall on the rear lower control arms and backing plate assemblies but have no recollection about shock towers.

A guy at an auto parts store last year saw my 1st gen and said that there was a recall on the strut towers because of rust. He said he knows someone who brought theirs into the local Toyota dealership to have new strut towers re-welded in as per the recall and they also installed new struts for free. I tried to look up this recall online and didn't find anything at the time.

I've also never seen those emblems on the sides before.

as jarf wrote, the recall was for the control arms and not the strut towers.

You might have your Toy dealer enter the VIN number with the Mothership; even though the recall started in 1986, I'd imagine Toy would keep all of the repaired VINs on file.
It actually affected all years and models of Gen I.
