1983 4wd Tercel for sale - $1500 - Spokane, WA

Post by joshuatyler1 »

My 1983 Tercel 4wd wagon is up for sale. She has quite a few miles (240,000), but is very sound mechanically. I'm moving to Seattle in June, and the wife and I are downgrading to just 1 car, so she has to go.
Runs great. Lots of new parts/recent work. Manual Transmission shifts great. 4wd works great. She's my daily driver right now.

Work I've done on it recently:
- replaced all the vacuum hoses.
- coolant replace/flush and new thermostat
- new fuel filter and hosing
- new air filter, distributor cap, rotor, wires, and spark plugs
- new front strut mounts
- new front inner tie rods (not installed yet)
- new brake pads front and rear (not installed yet)
- just adjusted valves

Known problems:
- Rear window defroster works occasionally.
- Has some rust on body (bubbling, etc) and the paint is sad. Structurally, very rust free. Pans are solid and very little
under-carriage rust.
- Gas gauge does not always work, but the empty light comes on (or just
use the trip odometer).
- driver's door looks to be from another car. Not sure why. It's very straight without any accident history.

Other great things:
- Comes with another set of 4 studded tires with good tread, perfect for
winter/snow.
- Glass is all good.

You all know how great these cars are. I've loved having it.
I'm thinking $1550 is where I'm going to try and start
(mostly because of the studs that come with and the recent parts). I'm willing to accept
offers. (Might include bike rack if the right offer) Let me know if you're interested.

looks nice, and a great price too. you can take it with you to Seattle and sell it there. it has become a cult classic in Seattle, for ones that are mechanically sound and ready to drive away, you will have lots of response. beside, it may help you move too, load it up on your drive west. than once you have an address to show it at put some excellent ads up on craig's list, you WILL get many responses.

Odd thing about seattle, it is quirky in many ways, and old cars are one of them. the tercel4wd is still very popular there and sought after by the "alternative lifestyle" types, and they will pay top dollar for good daily drivers.

@petros

Thanks so much for the info. I'll probably just hold on to her then. Truthfully, I'm somewhat glad I may "have" to keep her. I've done so much work on it and everything is so easy to work on.
