not charging and no discharge light

So riddle me this. 83 dlx isnt charging, but the dash light isnt on.

Ive got the external regulator. But tested the alternator first. Its dead (only 2 years old to this exact month.) Replaced it and its still not charging. Bought a new regulator since mines old as crap and the resistance in all the test were a fair bit higher than they should be. Still not charging.

Checked the bulb in the dash (actually did this before the new regulator). Its not coming on at all and i swapped it with a known good bulb.

Iv even checked the main ignition relay and its good. All fuses are good.

I know how to make it work...im just curious as to why that light wouldnt come on

How will you fix the charging issue?

I was going to bypass the main relay.

But i found the problem. Turned out to be a loose connection at the fuse box inside the car. Replaced the wire and shes charging again.

Also...the new voltage regulator wasnt putting out as much voltage as the old one. And it was non adjustible so its getting returned tomorrow.
