The montana run

Post by Gottolovem »

So last week i had a close personal friend ask me to find her a good wagon(not a fixer).I shot a couple of pm's to forum members and the next day i get a link to a 1983 dlx in great falls Montana with 110 thousand new clutch, rear main seal, tires, exhaust, etc. I called the guy and got a good feeling he gave me a straight story on how he got the car what he did to it and he was flipping it for a few extra bucks. We agreed on a price and time i had know idea what i had just committed to

I left Reno at noon on friday drove to boise idaho around 500 miles with a first gen tercel/corolla sr5 on my *new* car dolly for forum member florykitty.

Upon arrival he loved his new score we had a nice dinner and discussed the trip for the next day .

We left at 5am for great falls florrykitty went with to share in the driving he did most of it (thanks again Ted) the trip there and back was a 24 hr run somewhere between 11 to 12 hundred miles round trip  the longest single drive i have ever embarked on. Had to tighten the fender on the dolly a few times due to it bouncing around empty.Had a couple encounters with dear crossing the road. That will wake you up when your tired :lol:overall the trip was rather uneventful. The tercel wasn't perfect (shi**y respray) but was a very nice car overall for a 31 year old tercel. After we got back to boise i got around 4 to 5 hrs sleep and started back to Reno another 500 miles but not before having coffee with forum member Mad_Marx and Florrykitty it was the Idaho member meeting
the trip back to reno was so windy that i had to limit my speed to 50 mph at times or risk loosing the prize being towed behind me (very stressful weekend). The new owner seems to love her new little car and i'm rather certin it will serve her well for many years to come
It's official you know you have a problem when you drive over two thousand miles in a single weekend to snag a 31 year old car.

problem? what problem? I do not see a problem here. going long distances to retrieve a decent Tercel is well worth the trip, and meeting other forum members along the way just adds to the fun.

1) that's a pretty ballin looking truck you towed the cars with. i expect arnold schwarzenegger's bodyguards to jump out of it any second now.

2) does anyone else see a face in the driver seat of the t4 in that last pic? it looks like either a dog or a ghost is pretending to drive it while it's being towed.

3) i'm such a big fan of that 1st gen terc.

I traded my 1964 baha bug straight across for that truck it's my daughters daily driver.I wanted her in something safe when she first started driving the bug could pull wheelies NOT a safe first car

It was good to finally meet other Forum members! Thanks to Florykitty for initiating what I think was the first Boise Meet Up. Glad to see you made it home safe.
