Need a Tercel 4wd Transmission standard, BC, Canada
I have a 1985 Tercel wagon 4wd, standard transmission was leaking from housing since I got it, constantly toping it up but finally it died from running on lower than proper gear oil levels between top ups. I imagine any year tercel wagon 4wd standard trans will work in a swap, like the specific year doesn't matter is my guess?? Please if anybody has or knows of somone in bc, canada with parts car or a transmission in good working order please let me know by email or phone call, h2o_2go@live.ca or 250-620-3781 My name is Chris and I live in Horsefly bc, Canada. I can travel to pick up or get it shipped by greyhound or other shipper service depending how far it is. The main city I live by is Williams Lake bc. PLEASE Help, I Rebuilt the cars' motor, and many other parts, needs nothing but as trans and I miss driving it soooo much. Cheers

the transmission gear ratios are not all the same. '83-'84 are 3.73, '85-'88 are 4.11 so you can't mix them.
however, it is also important to verify the ratio you currently have in your car since it is possible it was switched before. i think this is done by counting the teeth on the rear diff but do a search on here for that because i'm not sure of the specifics about it.

Yes the ring gear has a stamp it's small but it's there.
To bad i'm so far away because i have a tranny it's the wrong gears but i have the rear set of gears to match.
Good luck on your search

Chris, I have a trans on Vancouver Island if you haven't already found one for your T4.
Or this guy seems to have one in Vancouver:

Hi, this is in response to a transmission on vancouver island? Is it a 85-88 standard transmission, as I was informed that its different gears for earlier years. Do you know aboutm shipping a trans up to cariboo bc, can transmission be boarded on a greyhound or other methods. know anything about that? Thanks, oh I guess that would mean if it is already off the car.

Yes, I have a trans that I pulled last year from an '86. From what I remember it was a little grindy going into 3rd gear (a worn synchro, I guess), and other than that I think it was good.
Greyhound shipping is not convenient for me, but I could drain it and package it for you and drive it to the Greyhound terminal (a 1hr drive). I also have a spare trans output shaft seal, plus a new 4wd selector shaft seal has already been installed.
If you are not in a rush, I might be able to find someone who could drop it off to you.
It would be nice if you could find one closer to you. You'd think there has got to be something in Kamloops area.

For the record, I talked to Chris on the phone and at this point, he is going to remove the trans and inspect it before going further.

Unless I can find a replacement trans for a cheap price that doesn't have gear wear or grinding happening, don't want to swap in a trans of that condition. so if somone in bc has one not in need of that I can pick up or have shipped would be great. Thanks all cheers
