F$%king printer...

Post by CathodeRayTube »

This has me stumped...i fix computers for a living so its rather absurd that i cant figure this out. I have an OKI C5500 color Laser (LED) printer...It was given to me, but its a very nice normally expensive office machine. It prints black perfectly, but all the colors come out as dull/pastel/washed out...no matter how i attempt to tweak the drivers or the settings in the printer itself...it does the same thing in Windows 7 and XP with different driver versions...EXCEPT, it prints its own demo page flawlessly with bright vibrant colors in the test pattern when setting it to print a demo from its own control panel on the printer itself...For that reason, logic tells me it must be a driver issue...but there is no info on the internet about this problem...the people who gave it to me were mac users so who knows if they ever experienced it... All of the cartridges/drums and the image belt statuses say they have reasonable life % left...

I would call the manufacturer's tech line and see if they have any tips for you. I am by no means a person to ask a question about computers to, but I have had good luck with tech support before.

Maybe the driver was stuck printing in "draft" quality (to save on toner)?
