I want to score one that gets 55mpg.
Come to think of it they just put another one at pick&pull and i bet it won't need another gallon of gas the rest of it's life as short as that might be infinite MPG

he likely failed math, no other way to explain 55 mpg in a T4wd.

If a car got 55 mpg why would anyone want to sell it? Underlying problems?

I have gotten as well as 34 hwy, usually around 27-29 of mixed city/hwy. there are a few pm this forum that have gotten as good as 35-36 mpg hwy, but they are the anomolies, not normal (and I wonder what is different about their cars).

There is no possible way to get 55 mpg average with a normal T4wd, it is not gonna happen. the car is too heavy, too boxy, and that obsolete design 8-valve carburated engine is not going to deliver 55 mpg. I have had a 1986 Civic with a 16-valve highly tuned all aluminum engine, that is smaller and about 600 lbs less heavy than a Tercel4wd that got about 44 mpg (on pure gasoline, not the federal 10 percent fermented corn crap we buy now), which is fantastic and very rare in any car. This guy claims his Tercel4wd gets 55 mpg? Either his a bold face liar or his math skills are so poor he does not know how to calculate fuel economy.

No B.S., when driving through Oregon on their interstate highways that are limited to 55 mph I was getting 39.9 mpg while traveling long stretches across the state between fill ups. I was only getting about 26 mpg in town though. I check my mileage every time I fill up.

I never was able to get 40 mpg, but I did get 39 mpg multiple times while traveling the state. My car has issues now and gets 0 mpg. Can't figure out the bucking/chugging issue while accelerating so I have parked it.

Before the issues I was only getting 20 mpg since disabling some carb control units on the car. Crappy.
