I noticed my "mist position" is not working on my wiper switch, but the other positions are. Has anyone had this happen? I have the Dlx, does the SR5 have delay wipers? Mine does not, but I would be nice to have here in Washington.

mist position? you mean the switch has a position for mist? On mine, a sr5, it has a button for the washer fluid, and then 3 positions, intermintant, low, and high. the int doesn't work on mine.

Are you talking about the front or rear wiper? for the rear, mine has a rocker switch, one way is "on" and the other is "mist" which just turns on the wiper when you hold it down. it doesn't turn on the washer. then there's a button for the washer.

Cars that got the intermittent position (like many SR5s) didn't get the mist position. You can add intermittent wipers using the switch from an 83-87 FWD Corolla (I got mine at the P&P). They have a single-speed intermittent switch, but sometimes you can fine an adjustable one in a Tercel.

Do you need to change the wiper motor when switching from a mist type switch to a intermintant switch? Also, my wiper fluid pump went out for my front window so I switched my fluid hose for my back window to the front. Now to spray wiper fluid I must hit my rear window button to get fluid up front :( . Does anyone know of any other models/years I can pull one off at the local junk yard that will fit a 86 4WD? Since it never stops raining here..... this state is hard on wiper motors, blades, switches, and fluid pumps.

The intermitant position on my SR5 terc wiper switch is toast too. I'm going to try wiring in a Cressida one with the fully adjustable delay. If I get it to work I'll post the wiring up on the forum.

Try the Tripledge wipers from Walmart. We put those on our F-250 and our Excursion and they are working well. The F-250 is having some streaking problems, but previous users have tols us that this is normal and is just part of the silicone laying itself out into a rain-x-esque barrier from water. They are a special silicone compund versus standard crappy rubber. (They look like normal wipers, except for a few edges sticking out from the main blade)

Nope, it's a direct bolt-in. The motors are the same.

Intermittant wipers, variable wipers and just about everything but the motor is controlled by the wiper component in the steering column.

Sorry if this sounds confusing I don't know what else to call it.

Picking up another wiper control and swapping it with yours is very easy.

OK, for all who are having problems with the intermittant position on your wiper switch, I may know your problem. I took mine apart and found cold solder joints (ie. solder connection physically broken/cracked) where the relay is soldered into the board. I resoldered these connections and it works great now. A friend of mine tipped me off on this, apparently this is a somewhat common problem with 80's toyotas. So if you have a soldering iron, you know what to do.

I have the mist (non-intermittent) type wiper set-up also. I like it better than the intermittent that's on my other Tercel. About 15 years ago I installed a wiper delay control on the car with the mist system. I now have a variable delay (2 to 20 seconds) as well as the mist feature. It's the best of both worlds. I see JC Whitney has a similar type...part no. WC122370A...$15.99
