Aisin clutch kit question

Post by OlyTerc »

I just received an Aisin clutch kit in the mail from Rockauto, and the clutch disk doesn't look like the pictures I have seen. In place of springs, it looks like a rubber material was used. Does anyone have any experience with these clutch disks?

I bought a clutch plate from a Toyota dealer and it also had the rubber blocks in it. Never had any trouble with it.

I think the Aisin is the factory supplier.

I assumed they were, and I was happy to find it at Rockauto for $95. I just made sure to order more parts, the rear main seal and parts for a tuneup, to make their shipping charge tolerable.

I was going to order the Aisin clutch kit from Rockauto, but it says 2/83-2/86. My car was made in May or 5/86. Some of the others appear to be for cars from 8/86. I guess these won't fit my car? If the part doesn't specify a year is it universal? Wanting to get this ordered today. Should I go to o'reillys or NAPA or something along those lines?

although 4wd tercels were made from 83 to 88, parts stores show 87 as being the start of the next generation of tercel, which is a completely different car. so anything from late '86 on is considered '87, and thus probably for the 3rd gens.

the clutch was the same for all 4wd tercels so i think the aisin kit marked 2/83-2/86 should be correct for your car.
