Side Lights and Back-up Light

Post by TerSnow87 »

Hello everyone.
I'm currently having the problem of my side lights and back-up light no longer working
I've checked the fuses and there is nothing indicating these two areas, I checked them all anyway, all good.
I'm wondering if there might be a specific area that these wires go to to make my life a little easier, because this is just one of the fixes I must take action on.
If someone could help me out or maybe point me in the right direction(s) that would be epic!!
Thanks!

Which side lights?

Hatch wiring may be suspect if the backup light doesn't work.

i know this is obvious but will ask anyway. have you confirmed the bulbs are good?

beyond that, hatch wiring is a good suggestion for the backup light. also might be the reverse light switch on the trans. i've never had to replace one on a t4 but i have on other vehicles and it's really easy.

for side lights, are you talking about the red rear quarter panel lights? i dunno. maybe make sure the wiring is all connected (there are plugs for these lights behind the little access panels in the cargo area, the same panels used to replace brake and rear signal lights).

next issue i can think of would be a corroded ground back there that both the side lights and reverse light use.

The red ones on the side. I am not sure exactly what they're called. Are about 4 inches wide and inch and a half tall. They both went out at the same time.
I'm going out to look it the back hatch now, never opened it up back there >.<
