It's doing alright. Clutch is pretty lousy but should be done within 2 weeks from now hopefully.

How much?

Make sure you get rid of the "breather filter" and hook it up properly to the air filter. My sedan had one of those when I bought it and it was a mess!

More pics and info after I pick it up. ;)

But it is a pretty decent deal and I'm excited of the possibilities of the 4A.

Something else might be in the works too. What is it? Stay tuned and find out.

geez, i'd say $120 for a rebuilt engine is a great deal. what's the story on the engine, who rebuilt it? and can you get a refund for all the 3a rebuild stuff you previously got?

Agreed If that motor has a fresh rebuild you got a great deal!
You would pay that at the j yard for a motor that's an unknown

So I found this on Craigslist. It came from an AE86 Corolla that had 50k miles on the rebuild. They claim it was done by Toyota. I was skeptical at first but after my friend looked at it on the stand he confirmed that a lot of things indeed looked new and that it was rebuilt recently.

Also came with an AE86 RWD trans that I can't use but he will add it to his repertoire of AE86 parts since he hoards anything related to the Corollas. Using it as a part trade in labor for the work he'll be doing for me.

Thanks guys. I'm very excited. Stay tuned for developments, might be a few weeks though as I'm waiting for tax funds before doing anything else.

Don't kid yourself, that's an amazing price for a motor in good condition! I paid $300 for a recently rebuilt 3A.

I picked it up right after I saw it on Craigslist because I had a feeling it wouldn't last.

I had been searching for a 4A for awhile in hopes one would pop up. This is the first one I've seen in my area in months for a good price and specs. I was happy I pulled the trigger.

Can anyone with a 4AC chime in about how they like it compared to the 3AC? I've heard it's a worthwhile upgrade but I wanna hear specific details.

i put a 4a in my first tercel, along with a weber carb. i put the weber on the 3a first, noticed a big difference, then did the 4a swap, and honestly didn't notice much difference at all. maybe it had a tiny bit more power taking hills but i'm really not sure. perhaps the night/day difference of the stock carb and weber tainted me though.

I think my 3A is tired but yeah I felt the same way about the stock carb and then the Weber.

The Weber is such a big difference.

The general consensus when I asked was "If your 3A is working fine, it isn't worth it to swap to the 4A". I couldn't find a 4A for my 87 FWD so I settled on a rebuilt 3A out of a 1st gen tercel.

Slightly lower fuel economy I've heard.
