title is not usually a problem. Most states have process for replacing a lots title, in our state you show proof that you sent a registered letter to the last known registered owner (to show you made an attempt to contact the previous owner), than the car gets inspected by the state patrol and the vin is run to verify it was not reported stolen, and you get a new title. I our state you get a 2 year provisional title, meaning that the previous owner has two years to contact you tio make a claim of ownership (they would have to get a judge to agree you own him money, so that NEVER happens). After that 2 years, you are issued clear title. Either case you are free to sell the car, and use as much as you want.
