Finally got it all hooked up right. Seems to be good now! Tomorrow or in the next few days I'll be removing all the unused emissions junk.

For the manifold vacuum to the distributor I just used two long rubber hoses and one of the black plastic hoses from another part of the vacuum system I pulled out.

On another note I also ordered a new clutch and a full gasket kit along with a few other things. A local offered me a good price to do the clutch and a small engine rebuild (head gasket, all gaskets, etc). And that means that yes, I'll be keeping it for awhile.

Should have it all done in February. Pretty excited to have it all buttoned up now.

GT: does the head gasket need done?

The head gasket doesn't need to be done but since it's included with the gasket kit I'm just going to do it anyway. I'm getting a great deal for everything that is being done. Basically cheaper than any places quoted me to do the clutch alone.

Anyone have any advice about how many turns on the fuel mix screw?

And as far as removing all the emissions equipment goes can I just unhook all the electrical connectors with no issues? When routing the fuel vapors, where is this hole that was mentioned to route the hose to?

if you are talking about the fuel idle mixture, you adjust it like this: with engine warm and at correct idle speed you screw it in slowly until the idle speed gets rough and drops off, than back it out, counting how many turns you go until it starts to idle rough and drops off again. Than turn it back in to half way between the two. Reset idle speed since it will likely be idling faster than when you started. Than repeat this process again, just to double check you are half way between too lean and too rich.

Awesome, thanks. Trying to find the sweet balance on there.

Runs a lot better now that the vacuum lines are hooked up properly. When I get home in a few hours I'm going to remove all the unused emissions equipment and take a pic of the install.

actually it is pretty similar. You locate the best and smoothest idle between turning it in and out, than set the idle speed.

Your pix does not show the Weber choke hooked up; is it?
Your CMH may not be hooked up, but it looks like it is still in place (black phenolic piece between the Redline adapter and the heat shield).
I was gonna ask how you modded the supplied-bolts to fit w/o the CMH in place, and then noticed it was still there.
You have the short aircleaner - still no contact with the hood? Put some tinfoil, crushed to an exact 1" thickness, on top of the box and then close the hood all the way - then open it and measure the tinfoil's thickness. I had to remove some of the hood's X-bracing above the aircleaner and then later on cut down the element.

Sorry that was a pic before everything was hooked up. The choke was hooked back up.

I would really love to take the CMH out of the setup because I am VERY close to the hood but not making contact. But I have a plug covering the inlet. Has anyone shortened the bolts so that they can deleted the CMH?

I'd keep the cmh hooked up to help with cold running and carb icing?

Where would the CMH hook up to? I don't have anything to hook it up to. It's just plugged.

Do I need that relay that I posted above? It looks like it was connected to all the emission plugs.

There's a green or black connector on a wire coming off the cmh spacer, it uses that relay. The capped connection stays capped since your using the egr plate.
