83 SR5 - 96K miles - One Owner

Post by BrownBadger »

Hey guys. Just passing on the info on this one. Got an email today from a dealer looking to sell an 83 SR5. Limited details are:

96k miles
One owner
runs/drives great
silver over blue: silver paint is new, blue paint is original
no rust
sunroof motor makes noise, but sunroof does not move
overall great shape otherwise

They are looking to get about $3000 for it. It is somewhere in the bay area. Should be posted on craigslist in the next few days, but if anyone on here is interested you might be able to snag a pretty sweet low mileage tercel. Phone number for the seller is 925-949-9030.

I wish i had the cash.
I'm ultimately trying to flip a few cars to make my daily driver that nice
If i had another month i could pull it off.

Brown badger how did you find it before it hit the market.

I have my ways ... i have my ways. I'd be all over it if I hadn't picked up a minty 85 with 102K a couple months ago. Getting ready to rebuild the engine on that one, or rather rebuild a 4ac for it.

Hahaha

I bought two t4s last week one was the one in the bay area with the extra crate motor.
I doubt this one will last till i flip these but next time i will have the cash stashed.
They don't come up with this low of miles to often.

Now on Craigslist for $3500. Looks pretty nice, seller does not mention the problems they told me about though.

I always wonder about cars with dash pads - although, this one looks pretty well done, what with the wrap around the inclinometer.
Car sure looks clean, though.
Interesting - Topoli Motors is an "online used car dealer;" "call for an appointment to see the cars." It doesn't even have a lot.

Their Yelp reviews were posted on CL and give me some pause.

The 'not recommended' reviews (whatever that means): http://www.yelp.com/not_recommended_rev ... 3M9xIR2XNg

And others: http://www.yelp.com/biz/topoli-motors-pleasant-hill-2

It was repainted, and one wonders what it looked like before. That and the badly stained carpet make me wonder how trashed it may have been.

And, I know from personal experience with other 1980s Toyota vehicles that low miles isn't always a good thing. If it sat for years and years I think that's actually worse than say 160k miles that was routinely driven.
