Jaguar's Answer To Mercedes Commerial

Post by ARCHINSTL »

Stolen from the Miata club site:
Two of the funniest commercials -- just make sure to watch the Mercedes one first.
Mercedes
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nLwML2Pa ... e=youtu.be
Jaguar
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3PQS8SFW ... e=youtu.be

I've never seen these before. The Jag one is tres clever!
Tom M.

EDIT - I first posted it with the link direct from the Miata site and did not try it myself. NOW I clicked on it ON the site, which opened both and then copied and pasted the links anew; now they work!
Sorry...

cute, but what were they thinking? like that silly MB commercial is really going to make me buy a MB. the advertizing agency should be fired, and the MB ad exec who okay-ed that stupid ad be demoted.

It is clear the Jaguar folks did not spend much on their ad, it looks more like an inexpensive parody.

too many "creative" types in ad agencies are completely clueless as to why someone would fork over $80,000 to buy a car. You would think the execs over at MB would know better. I wonder how much money they wasted on that silly ad. As if waving a chicken around is going to make me want to go buy an over priced German made car.

the sad part about both of those is anyone that has enough money to buy a Mercedes or a jaguar would most likely buy into these ridiculous ads. anyone with common sense, especially someone that's from the country, would shake their head at how stupid someone could be to even consider these ads. think of a better way to portray your technology instead of a chicken. so not original. laughable though. unfortunately too many people fall for mass media crap. thanks for sharing this. helps remind me and helps me appreciate that im one of the lucky ones that has half a brain at least.

I would not assume that people that buy MBs or Jaguars are all suckers for silly mass media ads, no doubt some of them are, do not assume that they are all stupid people (they did not become successful by being stupid). As nice as the Jag is, they do not have a terribly good reliability record (same is true with most, but not all, MBs as well), but the jag looses it value really fast. A clean good running 10 year old one will sell really cheap, much cheaper than the MB.

That ad is just a stupid silly way to sell any car, let alone a costly luxury car. it seems they fail to even understand what motivates a person to spend that much money over for an luxury car.

you wrote: " im one of the lucky ones that has half a brain at least."

are you really? what do you think most people would think of someone that drives a 30 year old econo-box like you do? I am being hard on you because it is important to consider how you come across to others when you make such statements. One should never be the one that casts the first stone, or someone will point something out about you that may be unflattering.

OTOH, I feel sorry for people that fall for the hype and buy a car that cost way more than they can afford. Most of them are buying these kind of cars to impress people they do not even like. than in comes a long string of costly and frustrating repair bills, and they feel like a real suckers than. Though I have met a number of successful people that buy such cars because they love them and they can afford them, they bought them knowing they will be costly to keep running well. I have no problem with buyers like that, though they are few and far between for the most part.

Merry Christmas everyone! Have a good holiday.

I already know what they think of me, esp. when I arrive at one of my high school or collitch reunions...
"He's 73, still wears flowered Vans shoes, blue jeans, has a looong ponytail and a no-longer stylish handlebar mustache and, even more odd - drives a 28-year old weird car of which he is inordinately and incomprehensively proud."
When they ask if I'd been, say, an artist as a career, do I tell them I retired from owning a bicycle store? No!
I get more of a rise and reaction with "I was a patent attorney." And my knowing close buddies just snicker...

As St. Nick so famously said - "HAPPY CHRISTMAS TO ALL, AND TO ALL A GOOD-NIGHT!"

These commercials, as bad as they are, are way ahead of the Ford eco-boost commercials with the and/or, you know "sweet or sour" or the "nuts or bolts". Ford should ask for their money back from whatever agency came up with those stupid commercials.
