i am need of transmission transfer case 4 10 gear ratio ,has to be out from 85-87 4wd tercel if i am right,if anybody has one let me know pay cash right away.Thanks much

the transfer case has nothing to do with the diff ratio, the transfer case is at the back of the main transmission housing. It contians the means by which power is "transfered" to the rear wheels. It is exactly the same for all years of 4wd transmissions.

do you means the front bell/diff housing? That contains the front diff with the gear ratio of 4.1:1 ('85-88 years) or 3.73:1 ('83-84).

Florykitty exactly what is wrong with your transmission.
The gear box is the same in all 4wd tercels.
It can be confusing because the gear box and the differential Look like one big transmission.
They are really two separate parts you can get the gear box out of any year t4wd then attach it to the 4.1 gears on your car.
That is if yours doesn't shift properly.

the shop who pulled my transmission out took it a part the whole think so he sad everthing is bad in that piece which is next to the transmission for ex ring-pinion,spyder gear and bearing kit that piece sits in my garage looks like a bell housing ,the guy that i got from it drive the Tercel with all must no gear oil in the box so other than that the car it s a great exemple of a 85 tercel sr5 4wd ac converted r 134 ,like new interior ,ext 9 0f 10 ,2 small rust spot on back gate which i plan to have the car painted after i fix all mechanical problems,i feel bad see this tercel no running,i just purchase it 2 mo ago ,well i like this forum looks like everybody try to help each other so we can keep this 4wd Tercel Alive Thank you much

If you have the ring and pinion gears that look like a bell housing in your garage and it's still good then all you need is the gear box (shifting part of the gears) out of any tercel 4wd.

i think you are absolutly right gottolovem i try to ask MAD_marx if he wants to take a look and tell me what i need to buy in order to fix my tercel.Like i sad i just got this little toy 2 mo ago,mad lives next to me but i dont if he wants to do this

your post is really confusing. Do you need a whole transmission assembly, or only the gear box? Or only a differntial perhaps? or a transfer case?

Sounds like a whole transmission/trans-axle assembly, but your use of words and incomplete sentences are difficult to understand what exactly you need.

hey petros the guy who took my tranny out he sad i need to replace or rebuild that piece which is located next to tha tranny in the front under the car i think call front diff if i am right so i was thinking buy another tercel with good tranny so i can fix the one that i bought and have parts for future needs,if i buy one in very good shape which is not rusty beater i keep and fix both as runners ,i have space to keep them ,so i am still looking see what i can find ,

it sounds like you are talking about the front differential assembly (includes the bell housing, does not include the gearbox or input shaft).

I might have a good one in my pile of parts. where are you located?

boise idaho location,i try take pictures tomorow so i can show you whats wrong in my tranny ,looks like a bell housing and when they took out the tranny its right next bolt into the tranny and its got inside that big ring-pinion assembly i think its call front difff i take pictures tomorow and see if i can upload
