Re: WTB: TVSV valve
oooooh, bummer. another member just bought one from toyota for the steep, steep price of $110.

don't sweat it too much though. TVSVs wear out over time so it's quite likely that yours needed replacing anyway.

I'd hate to spend that much. Anyone have any good used ones laying around?

all of the toyotas that had carbs in the 1980-'88 year range uses them. Go look at a self service wrecking yard, you will often fine one that was fairly new (recently replaced) for only a few $.

Re: WTB: TVSV valve
be sure to use the test in the FSM before installing any used TVSVs. all the ones i have found at wrecking yards were out of spec, which will cause poor running when fully warmed up. if you find a terc or corolla with really low miles, that would be your best bet.
Re: WTB: TVSV valve
I'm currently in the process of coming up with a manual replacement for the TVSV involving a mercedes 3-way vacuum switch-over valve and a dash-mounted lighted rocker switch (actually i installed it in my work beater a while back-waiting for real cold weather to check it's operation.) Kind of like an electrical hand choke-in the cold position manifold vacuum is routed to the AAP and in the hot position routed to ports m and l. No intermediate pos 'tho-don't think it will be a problem. Will keep you posted.
if it aint there, there's a good chance it won't break!

Re: WTB: TVSV valve
that's really interesting, rich. if you used an aftermarket temp gauge, you could even switch it at the correct temps. pretty neat.

I have a few that I'm not using, send me your phone number on a PM and I'll call you and we can discuss it. It'll be cheap.
