need front bumper cover

Post by scrapz253 »

as the title says. I'm on the hunt for a front bumper cover. or even just the driver side half of one. mine is ripped off on the driver side. I don't want to risk paying shipping though on a bumper that is so rotted that it will fall apart in the process. I'm in richland wa 99354. local is preferred. there not a single junkyard in my area with a tercel.

There just happens to be two T4wd in the local Picknpull, Arlington WA. I know at least one is in good condition. I think you are about 4 hours drive. Both already have the trans pulled, and the interior is beat on both. one engine is left.

they also have one in the Tacoma picknpull, and one in portland.

complete bumper is $46.99 plus tax and "yard fee" (about 8 percent), and a $4.99 core charge (bring your old one in to avoid this charge). they offer the cover separately but it is like $42, hardly worth pulling it off a good bumper support.

are these cars jumping on their hydraulic suspension or air bags? or do they just hover like that all the time?

(really though, are all the cars at the yard jacked up like that? and don't tell me they have that many jack stands to go around...)

oh, and I have the half of a bumper cover that you need (for free), but it is on Vancouver Island. Hey - It's only 75 miles as the crow flies... if you got a crow that can pack half a bumper cover.

they make jack stands from steel wheels, weld one up right on top of one laid flat. In the lower picture you can see one with the tire still on it under the front wheel. all of the cars as set up on stands with large fork lifts, these are self service yards, you bring your tools and get the parts off yourself. If they did not place the cars up on stands many people would likely get hurt or killed trying to jack up the car and crawl under it to remove a part.

wow, that would be a lot of homemade jack stands. and my crow mileage was to arlington; it's actually 263 miles to richland. and I thought my offer was useless before - now it's almost 4 times as useless. oh well.

the hood, grill, and front bumper of that silver one look really weird to me. i think it's just the white grill and damage but it almost looks like a different car.

Also, the pinstriping and the signal light duct-taped on upside down.

the side marker lights were off of something else, they do not really fit. the headlights area from a 2wd gen II Tercel. that is why the front does not look correct.

And yes, they have thousands of home made stands made from old steel wheels.
