Valve Cover Bolt Torque Spec?...TURTCEL

Post by TURTCEL »

Hey guys and gals,

Can anyone tell me what the torque spec is for our 3AC power plants? I replaced my valve cover gasket and half moon seal the other day and couldn't find the spec for the 3 cover nuts. I played it safe and only torqued them to 85 inch pounds which I am sure is a little low but it isn't leaking. I would like to tighten them more if necessary before I lose the use of this torque wrench.

Peace

not tight. i usually just do them finger tight and then another 1/2 or 3/4 turn. i looked in the FSM and didn't see a torque spec.

Guess I am sitting pretty good then. I did not see a spec in the FSM either except for a torque spec section for bolt sizes themselves. My concern with this is that I am tightening a nut that seats to a rubber grommet and not to a metal surface. I will stick with where I am and check periodically to see if I may need a potential snugging.

My repair manual lists 3-5 foot pounds or .4 to .8 m-Kg for the valve cover bolts.
