that actually looks pretty nice, and it's pretty low kms too.

glad there's someone else in the south island who patrols usedvic and such as much as i do. i'm on the lookout for the next project t4 so i'm checking all the ad listing sites regularly.

I'm on the lookout for a 1st gen Tercel so I check Used Vic and Craigslist a couple of times a day. There's one in Richmond on the mainland, but I'm having a hell of a time trying to get him/her to answer my e-mails over the last few days.

By the way, in one of the pictures in the 2wd wagon ad, I think I see a second tercel wagon in the background.

i've had both some great and some terrible experiences buying cars on the mainland, but the hassle and additional costs of getting there outweigh even the good experiences i've had so i've decided that i just won't go there for any more car shopping. now that i've said that, just wait and my dream t4 will pop up in burnaby or something stupid like that.

sharp eyes! yes, it looks like it has the wider rub strips, which would indicate an sr5 t4. neat.

Either a hatch or sedan. I'm not picky, but I'd like an automatic. It uses the same A55 transmission as the 2nd gens so I'm familiar with it and have a spare (and the "spare" in my 2nd gen hatchback).

Interesting, I thought these 3 speed automatics were generally disliked!

I'd think they'd be OK in an urban environment with much stop-and-go traffic, but I believe someone (tercel4wdrules ?) posted that they are turning over 4000 RPM at 60 MPH.

Usually I like everything to be manually operated. I'd prefer a manual choke, a manual cooling fan over-ride switch, I don't like power steering, etc. I don't like a manual feature that I have to constantly operate every few seconds (manual trans in a city commute). Plus I don't have to replace a clutch every 2 weeks (semi-joking) or deal with a previous owner that ground the gears down to nothing.
I'm still waiting for that 1st gen Craigslist guy to start talking. The only question he will answer is "is the car still for sale". Everything else he ignores.
