'84 2wd standard wagon $2995 (Portland)
Price seems high, but it's in good shape. http://seattle.craigslist.org/see/cto/3919224119.html

that terc has been for sale for a long time. petros posted it months ago. i'm not surprised it hasn't moved at that price. way too much, even for a nice one, and this one is far from mint. you can see stains and tears on the seats, stains on the carpet, a rub strip falling off, damage to the front left fender (despite the claim of 'no accidents ever') and the ad mentions a stained headliner.
also, it's a 2-barrel carb, not a "progressive 1-barrel," and the ad mentions a serpentine belt and driver's airbag when no tercs had either of those. i thought by serpentine belt they meant timing belt but that is mentioned as well so they must be confused.
about the only good thing i can say is i like the lady on the hood in the last pic. not your typical tire bunny but i'm still down.

Is that a custom steering wheel? I have an '84 and it looks nothing like it. Maybe that big boxy thing in it is the "driver's air bag". I've never heard of a air bag retrofit like that, but there's a lot of things I've never heard of. Maybe the serpentine belt is for power steering or AC. One thing I learned from those pictures (other than "seniors" can look pretty good) is that you can fold up the rear seat to get the seat backs to lie down fully flat. I feel silly saying that I never knew that.

that's just a standard US terc steering wheel. quite different from our canadian ones though, hey? our 83 and 84 sr5s even had that funny bird head logo in the center of the steering wheel. i didn't understand why it had a bird on it at first. it was a while before i learned that a tercel is a male falcon, and noticeably smaller than its female counterparts, which is why the name was chosen: the tercel was the smaller counterpart to the corolla, hence the 'corolla-tercel' badge on some early models.
yes, the 2wd back seats fold much better than the 4wd. the 2wd corolla wagon i just sold had way more cargo space due to that and not needing a full-size spare tire. do your hatchback seats fold the same way? i guess that might be why you feel silly.

Yes - "seniors" can look "pretty good"...

I just realized that my hatchback seats don't "hinge" up, but you can remove the bottom of the seat (to get at the fuel tank level transmitter, for example). I assume the 4wd wagon does this as well?dlb wrote:

yes, the 4wd rear bench pops out really easily by just pulling the black tabs located at the front and bottom and lifting up. there's nothing underneath the bench on the 4wd to access though so the fuel level sender is accessed under the carpet in the cargo area, on the right side.
i'm really surprised the hatchback rear seats don't fold up like the 2wd wagons. good to know.
