Just painted my tercel jet black with green and blue flakes

Post by greenmachine »

Aloha from Hawaii,

Just painted my tercel wagon. Paint used was jet black with green and blue flakes. 6 coats of clear was also added. It is blinding when the sun hits it or at night when a car is following behind. Tell me what yall think.

There are tons of other mods that i will post later via pic such as a dual battery setup in the engine bay, relocated water and radiator plastic containers and much more. All black interior (roof liner included) that was taken out of a 1987 wagon....tons more. Enjoy the vid

very nice... and clean.

I'm curious if you know how much topcoat was used and how much it cost there in the 808 state?

cj: A paint job like the one i got would cost $3,000. Not sure how much topcoat was used.

Marlinh /Archinstl: Thank you for the kind words

dlb: The dual battery setup is for future upgrades of electrical system. The car already has a 150 amp Mechman custom alternator and im planning to drop another alternator in on the other side (there is room)

LOL! First i need to find drop in adjustable coilovers so that when i have all the sounds in the back, it dont sag. No one seems to know where to get a coilover setup for this car.

Anyone out there can ya help me out? Where do you get coilovers for this wagon??

your terc is a 2wd so it has struts in the back. most members on the forum have 4wd tercs which have a solid rear axle with just springs and shocks in the back so we may not be the best source of info on coilovers. hopefully someone will have an idea for you though.

I saw this on youtube a while ago and loved it, then last night I was showing a friend these cars on youtube and the topic of sick paint jobs came up, so I pulled up your video. Like an hour later we were browsing the forums and found this thread hahaha

Of course you're a forum member, I should've known. Good job man, it looks awesome.

Thank you for the kind props. Sony pictures just used my car in an untitled major motion picture that they completed filming here in Hawaii. The scene was set in India and my car was a taxi that picked up one of the main actors! (Emma Stone). Yes, Emma Stone sat in the passenger seat of my car. [/end brag] LOL!

Hey greenmachine, Show us a video video or it didnt happen. No problem, here is your video:

http://www.kitv.com/news/hawaii/video-b ... index.html

Fast forward to the 2:38-2:40 mark of the local news video. You will see my car with the taxi light, pass by the camera.

I did get paid for Sony pictures renting my car. i got the car back detailed inside and out. This 86 Tercel Wagon is now in the movie database and should another producer need a similar car, they will call me. How cool is that?

The film is using LHD cars in India?
This link did not show your car - just a report on the street scene - I did notice the traffic was flowing in the usual drive-right mode.

Tom - It's there, right at the 2:38-2:40 time frame. But you only see the upper half, not the full car.

not a bad shot actually, you can see the headlights and the high mounted tail lights. It is all darkened. It passes right in front of the "talent" and the camera crew. who would have thought they would film a movie that takes place in India in Hawaii.

Very nice! I have one question, if the bumpers get hit won't the paint tend to crack since they are a rubber compound?
