Interesting, in that the 2Wd has a rust spot under the right tool cubby, as its fuel filler is on the left. The exact condition afflicts the 4WDs, but on the left. Apparently both vehicles have a good protector on the side of the fuel filler spout.
Also - has anyone ever encountered chrome wheel hub caps?

looks good in the one pic. low kms. seems like a good buy.

tom, i was actually having a conversation with a non-car enthusiast friend about the driver side rust thing. she said that her old t4 was more rusted on its driver side, and her friend who also had a t4 had the same thing. then we started thinking about all our old vehicles and found that most of them were or had been rustier on the driver side. my friend's theory was road salt being thrown up on the driver side from oncoming traffic. seems plausible to me so now i'm going to be looking at all cars for this to see if the trend really does apply to most cars.

David - the 4WDs have a plastic guard-thing over the PS rear quarter lip, to guard from rocks hitting the filler tube (I guess). The left side does not, whence the accumulation of mud/crud/salt/moisture in that fold on the DS.
I presume, since the 2WD has a DS filler tube, that the PS therefore has no guard, whence the rust on that side.
Interesting thought on the DS being exposed to more crud from slushy streets; perhaps that, plus the lack of a guard, contributes to the rustiness there. Goldie's was perforated there.
