lower steering shaft

I need of a lower steering shaft for 1983 4wd wagon Toyota part # 45202-16040 it is no longer available from Toyota. Brett530-363-2882 thanks

best bet is a wrecking yard, not difficult to replace. You have several pick-n-pulls in your area, check their on-line inventory, 2wd and 4wd are the same part for 1983 and 1984 model years.

The small universal joint is what wears out, but it can be replaced, I have done it. You just need to find a source for the u-joint, most Toyota models use a similar steering shaft, but with different length/splines etc on the shaft. so you can consider buying one for the later year (which is still available) and removing the u-joint and installing it on your steering shaft.
