hey everyone, this is my first post so i thought i should say hi to everyone.
i'm a big toyota fan and it all started with my 1983 4wd wagon my mom gave to me when she got a new matrix in 2003. right now i drive a 2005 echo hatchback, but i still got the tercel and plan on using it sometime, i don't know what it is, but i don't want to get rid of it. i hope to do a 4A shortblock swap in the future using a engine out of a later model GT-S engine

heres some pictures of my toyotas

Welcome!

Hot Echo you got there - I love the rims. I'm toying with the idea of buying one as a daily driver for my wife and I. Can't beat the cost, and they get great mileage. Not only that, but the power to weight ratio is excellent. How do you like yours? What all have you done to it? You must be located in Canada, I dont think the US got the hatch model?

Welcome. I see that you have a '83 deluxe 4wd wagon. Oh yeah, and welcome to the '83 Tercel 4wd club... just kidding.

i got all sorts of stuff on the thing, in retrospect, it was way too much and i would recomend only getting a couple of things (like A/C and power steering) and add stuff later. and skip the loweing springs, exhaust and intake.

stuff i got:

cold air intake
cargo liner
performance exhaust
fog lamps (aftermarket piaa's oddly)
lowering springs
MP3 stereo
B pillar accent (the black sticker in between the door and rear window)
rear spoiler
side skirts
side window visors
air conditioning

since then i have replaced the stock 4 speakers with alpine Type-S speakers which makes it really pump now, and a TRD shift knob and the 15" bronze Konig Heliums

i don't plan on doing anything else to it for awhile now, my next mod might be a short shifter, or bucket seats out of an echo RS or a Matrix.

its pretty good on gas, but it really depnds on how you drive it, if you drive hard, its a pig on gas for a 1.5L, but if you drive old-man style you will be getting at least 800KM to a tank opposed to 400KM as a lead-foot.

if you get one, just get a basic model with AC or what have you, there are better aftermaket exhausts, intakes and lowering springs out there for way less money

Good to know. Thanks for the reply. I did go to the Toyota website and put everything onto an Echo that I thought I wanted, it ended up being $25k CAD!! I'd rather buy a Lexus IS300 that is a couple years old instead with that sort of money. Than again, there goes the gas mileage. Like you say though, just buy the basic Echo, and build it up with aftermarket parts.

nice echo :) only thing i dont like about them is that the speedo is in the middle - does that bother you any? Other than that they're pretty sweet, especially yours :)

Its tiny..... Yeah, thats coming out of the mouth of a kid whos family has a Ford Excursion, lifted F-250, and big diesel VW Passat (actually, all 3 of those are diesel)
What kind of mileage does it get? 800km (whatever that is for miles..) is good on a 10 gal tank but for all I know it has a 25 gallon tank!

Why can't the USA conform to the Metric system????

thanks for the compliments, having the cluster in the middle took some getting used to, but I think nothing of it now.

its milage is basically 50MPG and its a 10 gal tank.

you gotta drive like grandma or only do highway driving to get that kind of milage, it REALLY burns up the gas if you drive it hard, even a little bit.
