I found a 21 tooth gear in a 1980 Corolla Tercel hatchback.
It had a 1AC engine and a stick.
5speed

Of course, the gear is mounted on the shorter shaft found in most Tercels.

(I have an early 85 auto 4wd wagon - December 1984.)

I am sorry to announce that the gear disintegrated during the removal operation.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to the Western Plastics Association.

I saw a 4WD automatic at a pick-n-pull in Portland. Can't recall the precise location but I think it's Portland South.

Tempting. It's just too far though.
I used to live down in Vancouver, and shopping self-serve yards was a lot more fun.
I wonder if the long shaft is only on wagons with cruise control.
