Needed...Fuel Cut Off Solenoid A...TURTCEL

Post by TURTCEL »

Well, I did some testing the other day and found that my EBCV unit was out of range. It is supposed to have 11-13 ohms or resistance and mine was at 13.6, I changed it with my spare which read at 12.8. I noticed an improvement in my deceleration issue between 2200 and 1800 RPM's but not quite all gone.

I tested my fuel cut off solenoids A and B. B tested ok but my A solenoid tested bad. It is supposed to have no resistance during its testing and both of mine do. My original had 6.8 ohms of resistance but passed the vacuum test and my spare has 1.6 ohms of resistance and also passes the vacuum test.

If anyone has a spare Fuel Cut Off Solenoid A (black wire harness plug) that tests good, I would be very greatful for the opportunity to purchase it from anyone that can help me out. I can send a check, money order, cash or if there is another preferred payment I could work with that too. I would cover the shipping and the cost of the part.

TURTCEL is an '85 SR5 federal car, as far as the direct application goes. I believe all models use the same solenoids..

Thanks to anyone that can help.

Peace

Just throwing a reminder out there that I could really use a good "fuel cut off solenoid A" if anyone has one. I am moving in a month and would really like to get this part before I leave if possible.

I have several spare used carbs, not good running examples, but rebuild able. I can check the solenoids on them and send you a good one. what is the proper resistance of the solenoid you want, the black wire one?

I think I am confused now about the part that I tested and the part that I should have tested. I did not test any of the solenoids on the carb itself. The solenoids I tested were the ones screwed into the bracket that mounts the EBCV unit on the passenger fender well.

I will test my carb solenoids now that I know what I am looking for and get back to you Petros. Thanks for turning the light bulb on in my head.

The devices on the EBCV are not fuel cut-off solenoids (those are on the carb), they are vacuum switches that turn on or off depending on engine conditions control ed by the primitive computer behind the glove box. They control air mixture at lower speeds by allowing air to bleed in under the carb at certain rpms. these could indeed be the sourse of your problem, but I think you can just cap off the vac lines and it should run okay.

i initially thought you wanted the vacuum switch cause you mentioned vacuum and dark plug which the fuel solenoids do not have. But several days passed before i found a vacuum switch and tested it and when i checked your post again i saw fuel solenoid so i thought i tested the wrong part. So today i looked at the new replies to your post and its on again with the vacuum switch.
i can mail you one for cost of shipping if you PM your address
Love those Tercell 4x4 wagons but they sure suffer from road noise.
