Not a bad deal for someone in the Montana area. Kinda high mileage though.

Hey, new to the world of tercel4wd, I was curious if a transmission could be found for $300? Seems like in some of the other stories that it's the crux of a rebuilt, the tranny. Just looking for a little wisdom! I'm planning on buying another tercel soon (sold my last one in 2007) so I'm keeping an eye out. Thanks!

welcome, cascadecement. good used trannys for these cars are getting harder to find, and as many here will tell you, swapping out a bad trans without a vehicle lift is a lousy job. it can be done at home, for sure, but it's one of the biggest jobs on a t4 that you can tackle. you would want to make sure that the trans you are putting in is good so you don't have to do it all over again.

anyway, yes, with diligent searching you can still find transmissions at wreckers or through this forum for around $300. installing it would be the harder part.

I will vouch for that. I am doing a clutch job right now...day 4. The shittiest car job I have done thus far.
