reviving an old thread, asking pretty much the same question: which cars have the temp light, and more importantly, where on the dash is it located?

a while back, i replaced the dash gauges and hood in the '87 DLX auto trans 4wd project with the gauge and hood from an '84 manual trans 4wd. however, in the last few days i've started worrying that it really should have the temp light because my friend who is getting the car is a new driver. i removed the dash hood yesterday but the temp light is not on either side of that. then i noticed what looks like a warning light just below the temp gauge and i wonder if this is the elusive temp light—i shined a light on it but couldn't tell, and it was already late so i didn't bother pulling the gauge cluster to investigate further so can anyone else confirm if this is in fact it?

SD mentioned that the wiring diagram in the FSM indicates you either have an EL light or a temp light, but '83-'84s never had EL lights anyway, so i wonder if they had the temp light instead.

The automatic 4wd wagons have the TEMP light above the door open warning light.

carlos, you're a walking t4 encyclopedia. thank you. too bad i swapped the hood along with the gauges into the project car but i guess i'll just go to the wrecker on monday and grab the driver side warning light bar from an automatic terc and throw that in my gauge hood.

incidentally, i pulled the gauges today to see what the warning light below the temp gauge was for. i found that there was no bulb in its place, and when i shined a light in, nothing was visible from the front so i guess it was something that was omitted and blocked off at the factory.
