I usually buy cars with less than 100K miles or so...can still get some serious miles out of them. Big issue is the rust though.

They did a bang up job on that body work and paint...I'd just get into those rear wheel wells and carefully check for chips in the undercoating each fall...also some oil in the bottom of the doors and hatch?

You probably have some fog and moisture but not a lot of snow?
Give a boy a gun-give a biatch a cell phone-and pretty soon you almost got yourself a police state.

Victoria is a very damp place yes. Luckly I have underground parking. But oil in the doors is a good idea. I have a creeper that I use to get under my car every month or so to look for anything that might be starting to turn ugly. The wheel wells though, I think they might have missed my inspection once too often. I think I'll do that tonight. Thanks for the advice.

I just noticed last night my drivers door is slightly loose. I was oiling the hinges and when I was opening and close to work the oil in I pushed up a bit and noticed it gave a little. When lifting on the very back of the door it would lift about a quarter of an inch. I was suprised to see it loose like that because the door does work well. When I inspected the bolts holding the door on they were really tight. I could'nt lift the door at the same time as looking at the hinges. So I could'nt actually see the play. Anyone else have any experience with door problems?

that is a great color for this car. Makes that obnoxious little box of the Terc4WD really stand out, kind of "in-your-face" to you big, costly 4x4 SUV. Just think this little box predates the even uglier Scion box by two decades.

What year Terc is that, '87? I love those head lights, can I find some to fit my '84 do you think?

Tinted rear lights eh?
That might be really cool,
I've never thought about that before. I'm not too sure how I'd go about doing that. I'd have to play with the idea, but I'm always looking for new things to do to the car. Yes the car is an 87. They have the cool headlights. I'm not too sure what other models had the newer style headlights? I think th 87's were the first year? Anyone fell free to correct me on that one. They are expensive to replace though, and hard to find. I'm luckly enough to have a second tercel 87 SR5 with the same interior and everything, So I have a parts car when this one starts to fall apart. Hopfully with preventative maintainence that will never happen. I'm not too sure what it would take to get that style of headlight into your car

HomeSkool, that Terc is ballin' dude... Where did you get the nice rim/tire combo? Any idea how I could get a rear air deflector? I currently have the JCWhitney front and rear air deflectors on the windows of my Terc. The previous owner had installed them... I'm just lacking a deflector for the third quarter windows and the triangular-shaped windows, lol.... I wonder if such ones could be rigged up for my ride? Oh well. Sharp looking car and certainly it will give me some inspiration when I "PIMP" up my own one.... Now you should eat a Domino's pizza and breadsticks as a congratulatory thing for yourself for doing that work to your Terc, lol. :)

thanks for the positive feedback everyone, :D
I will make a video in the near future and post it on youtube and post a better quality link here for all of you to download. I really enjoy the stereo forsure, but it does take up alot of room. But I do have another 2wd tercel me and my girl friend use to haul stuff around.

For the longest time I did'nt know where the rear spolier came from. The car was my Grandpa's and I got it when he could no longer safely drive. I did'nt think I'd have the car for long but I fell it love with it. Best winter car ever, anyways... heh
I forget who but someone on this forum told me the spoiler was from a Nissan Multi. He was correct. I saw a multi in a scrap yard with the exact same spoiler. I never got the chance to talk to my grandpa about the details of the car before his memory went. He really took good care of the car and I know he'd be proud of me for keepin it in good shape. This all said I think the spoiler looks great, I'd love to see another tercel out there with it added. I can't imagine it would cost much at all to locate one in a scrap yard. If anyone does this please post pictures! 8)

The ordeal with my tranmission was a small nightmare. The gear ratio is still incorrect. Or if it IS correct then the gears are so worn out that they arn't correct anymore. When I lock it into 4x4 it fights its'elf really hard. To the point I NEVER put it into 4x4. Not worth the risk. My plans are to put in a new engine and tranmission and convert it to Rear wheel drive. I purchased a nice little red Corrola that I'm steeling the parts for
TWIN CAM 16 1.6 ltr EFI AE82 4AGE
My old Neibour in my home town of Nelson BC found me the car and purchased it for me. It is stored at my parents house. But I live in Victoria british columbia so I'm a ferry ride and 8 hours away from it. So the engine swap ect won't be happening anytime soon. oh'well.
Anyone with any advice on this topic hammer me. I need to know as much as possible before I atempt this swap. I'm going to have a differnt daily drive in place for the swap so I can take a month or two doing it. I won't be in a rush. :)

If you have a rwd Corolla AE86 GTS twin cam it is worth a lot more than a parts car. You should clean it up and sell it. Unless it is crunched or a rust bucket, otherwise it would be a shame to strip a good rwd GTS. They still make a ton of performance aftermarket parts for that car because they are so popular.

There is a detailed on-going thread on installing a 4AGE into a Tercel4wd with all the info you need. Do you know if the GTS has an LSD in it? That might be worth a rear axle swap, you will also get rear wheel disk brakes too (presuming you are still parting out the GTS).

Have you up graded your front disks to be vented yet? The '92 or newer Tercel front calipers and disk are a direct swap over.

The Corolla is falling apart at the seams. The rust is extream to say the least. I'll post some pictures sometime. I was planning to swap the rear axle and tranmission as well into my tercel. It would be great to get a the rear disk brakes. And thanks for the info about the vented front disks on the 92 or newer tercels. I had no idea about this. That would be excellent. 8)
