that look fun , I would not mind joining , except you know what I mean . Your Nissan 4wd , is the motor side ways or look like Tercel4Wd ( straight ) . For having a club for any Compact car with 4WD is not a bad idea because there are very few 4WD car left these day except Tercel's and Subaru's club are popular.

Hello toughtercel, the engine is transversly mounted in the Sentra. This is my engine compartment.



I have swapped the original [90 h.p] single cam 1.6 engine for a '93 twin cam 1.6 Sentra engine [110 h.p.]. I later added a small Garret T20 turbo kit to it. It's non intercooled so it makes about 140 h.p. Much better than the 90 h.p. it came with! It gets about 28 mpg.

I agree, having a club for all makes of 4wd compacts is a good idea, as there are so few left. So far for this trip we have the following cars lined up:

'89 Sentra 4wd wagon

'91 Honda Civic RT4wd wagon

'78 Subaru DL 4wd wagon [and a Subaru Brat owner that has expressed interest as well.]

2012 Suzuki SX4

2009 Suzuki SX4

I'm hoping that there is a Tercel 4wd that can come out and join us.

Well Eastern guys , aren't any Tercel 4WD going to have fun , Western side had some event , I will be glad to go for little spin with DLB / smyth /petro / drivers from Portland , anyone .

I was out all afternoon finalizing [and prepping] the course for this Sunday's outing. This time I brought a sledge hammer and a pry bar to remove the rocks that threaten oil pans and suspension bits. This is the one that nicked my rear control arm a few weeks ago.



It was much larger than it appeared.



It won't be a problem any longer.



There were a few others that I removed the hard way.



I unearthed one more new "cow path" just as it got dark. I saw a very large owl fly across my hood and land in a a nearby tree. He stayed there and watched me. It was only when I got out of the car to take his picture that he flew away. Too bad, because I had the camera on "night vision" and it would have been awesome.

I used to keep my wagon spotless and clean it right away after any kind of outing. But now with this 4WD stuff is going on every week, I won't bother washing it until the event is over.

I found a forum for Toyota All-Trac wagons and tried to register but found out that you have to donate $5 to prove you're "real". Really? Who's great idea was that?

The Honda Civic wagon forums are not much better. I registerd there, waited for three weeks until my account was activated and then tried to post. Then the automated message tells me that all posts need to go through the moderator first. That was two weeks ago. Huh?

What are these people thinking?

blownb310, the $5 thing on the all trac forum is new. i'm glad i got on before they started doing that, but i also understand why they want such a thing. after all, server costs need to be paid and no one likes spam bots, like the ones we frequently get on this forum.

just thought of another odd 4wd you might want to include, the AMC eagle. my brother had one, though he bought it as a project car and then never fixed it. i think they're hideous in a really cool way, like a station wagon on a truck chassis, but have been told by members on this forum that they're as unreliable as all hell. too bad. anyway, here's a fairly popular eagle forum.

Thanks dlb, that's good advice. I've registered over there and am waiting for approval. I appreciate your support and interest for events like this. They are pretty simple to put together and I hope my event will inspire others to organize outings as well.

I was thinking today about how you Tercel 4wd's guys have your own forum, Civic wagons have a forum, even Justy's have their own forum. But there is no, and never was a 4WD Sentra forum. Frankly I'm not sure there are enough people out there with them to even have a forum. I have what I believe to be the best informational source for 4WD Sentras on the internet. It is simply a single forum thread here: http://www.nissanforums.com/b11-b12-kn1 ... as-12.html. But based on the little participation in it [other than from me] it seems like a very small community!

I know I mentioned it before, but...
I'd never heard of a 4WD Sentra before your posting. Maybe they were not distributed nationally? Maybe the dealers in STL (and other cities) just did not order them?
Now, I've been a car nut for all of my life - my first Road & Track was in December of 1953...
It's possible R&T or CandD did test one, but I sure don't recall it.
Any background on this? Any idea on how many were sold in North America? How about non-North America clubs for it?

it's funny you mention that, tom. i have only seen one 4wd sentra and it was in a tiny town in the middle of nowhere. it came up in convo here on the forum once, with danzo i think, and i don't think he had heard of them either. he thought i meant the stanza (called a multi here in canada) 4wd mini vans. they were fairly common. but anyway, my point is that i have only seen one and when i mentioned it here, only one person noticed and thought i meant something else. that's by no means conclusive but i think it's a good indication of just how rare they may have been. anyway, i'm really curious about them.

mike, i totally think you should start your own forum for the 4wd sentra. it may wind up being a very small community but i'm sure it would have a similarly devout following to this forum and be very useful, even if only for a few peeps.

Nothing special really. Mine has a Nissan Pulsar steering wheel and the tach cluster from a fancier GXE model.

All set to commence the first ever northeast 4WD compact car event on Sunday morning.
The meet details have been sent to all who have signed up. Glad I didn't wash my car, it's supposed to be 50 degrees and the ground might be a little moist. Might have to get a running start for that one really steep hill.
