that is a great buy. I would be surprised if someone maganged to crack a toyota block as it says. More likely just needs a head gasket, more work to replace than on a 3a Tercel, but still not too bad a job if the car is in otherwise good condition.

With the transverse engine it is not too much more work to drop the pan and slip out the pistons once the head is off. with that done you can replace the rings, hone the cylinders with the engine still in the car, install new rod bearings if necessary and but it all back together. would be a good time to replce the timing belt and front seals too.

emailed the guy to ask if the car is manual or auto and if it's driveable as is. he said

"The car is a manual. When the incident happened I had it on the highway going 80 - 90 km/h to get it home from North Nanaimo to VIU area, but power is a definite issue. It could probably make it but I don't know if I'd recommend it and I don't have the knowledge to infer otherwise. Let me know if you have any other questions."

i'm thinking hard about it. i'm almost done my current tercel project but don't know if i want another car sitting in the yard right now. tough to turn down such a good buy though.

get it and throw a can of block seal into it, if it works you have a driveable car. if you do not want to rebuild it now, throw another can of block seal in it and sell it.

4age swap? that would be an easy swap, the corolla is already EFI, you can use the MR2 4age since it goes in transversly, you likely would not even need to make a custom exhaust header.

Hi Petros,
Yes, a friend of mine named Jed in Melbourne is making both a 7AGZE and a 4AGZE swap into his 4wd Corolla wagons, his thread is http://www.alltracwagon.net/forum/m-1290158629/s-75/ but there are plenty that have made the more basic 4age swap the main problem being the solonoid for the diff lock can get in the way of the engine but can be easily fixed with a little cutting away of the block.
