This looks like it could be a great project car. I'm going to research carburetor work on the forum but does anyone have any immediate advice. Is it an easy job or at least one worth taking on for a car at this price?

carbs are no big deal. first thing is to confirm there are no vacuum leaks, which is easy enough and there are plenty of helpful threads on this on the forum. next, if you still get some weird performance issues you can buy a carb rebuild kit for $40 a rebuild it yourself. disconnect the hoses, remove four nuts, and the carb is off. rebuilding it is easy, you just need a clean and well-organized work area so you don't lose any tiny pieces.
I guess with so many miles, a compression test is important right? I'd hate to buy this and have an engine replacement/rebuild on my hands. Waiting to hear back from the seller.
yeah, i think a compression test is a worthwhile thing to investigate. it doesn't take much time and can give you an idea of what you might expect. not such a big deal when the car doesn't cost much but i'd still prefer to avoid buying something that i might have to pull then engine on in the near future.
