Oil leak

I have an oil leak at the side of the transfer case.
Where the 4WD shifter goes in the box.

Is this gasket easy to replace ?. Is it removable from outside ?

There is a thread on that somewhere. One member had the trans out of the car and had a hard time getting the arm off the shaft to replace the seal.

I used some sewing thread wrapped around the shaft behind the arm maybe 8-10 times (can't say if this actually helps).........and changed to a mix of 140W and 90W gear oil. This has slowed the drip rate a lot.

You will have to pop the transfer cover off to get the shaft out. It involves knocking out a few pins for the shift linkage.
