neat, a 4wd corolla sedan. i wonder if they share the same transmissions with the wagons of those years.

I don't think so, the engines were sideways on the all tracs...?

I have inspected them at the wrecking yard, the drive train, including the engine and trans in the all-trac sedan is the same as the wagon. Both use the transverse engine/transaxle combo, the all-trac AWD trans axle has an extra differential for the rear drive train that is always "on" but can be locked up to provide 4wd with a button operated solenoid. Makes the drive train rather heavy compared to our Tercel's completey different trans/drive train. The only thing the same is the rear axle is similar, but not the same, I think it uses the larger rear diff too. Front struts, front hubs, front suspention is completely different from the Tercel. This car is a complete break from the earlier rwd corolla/Tercel chassis which are almost identical. it might be kind of fun to get a RWD corolla GTS and put in the Tercel front drive train to make it a 4wd Corolla Twin-cam GTS.
One odd thing about the all-trac, it was the only model in the Toyota line up for those years (88-92?) that does not have an EGR, but the identical engine as the FWD sedan (4AFE) except the all-trac does not have EGR. Must be something with Federal categorizing the vehicle as car or truck, and emissions allowance vs. weight, etc.

Oh, sorry, thought he meant our wagons.
