84 SR5 4x4 Pickup

Post by Mad_Marx »

1984 SR5 4x4 Pickup Project:

This is the project I was on before my current Tercel Build. dlb wanted to see some pics.
this is a rust free Arizona truck I picked up with 120,000 original miles on it. I replaced the Toyota shocks with Rancho 5,000 shocks to help dampen the live axles on wash-boardy Idaho mountain roads. As for the engine build, as stated in previous thread: Offenhauser intake, Webber carb, MSD Ignition, Pace Setter Header, Forged J&W Pistons .040 over, Ported/Polished/Port matched Head, Competition Cam (stage 3 grind), double sprung valve springs, double row timing chain and high volume oil pump from L.C. Engeneering, and a Black Magic Electric fan to keep it all to temperature.

This is a survivor standard cab short bed rig with a Mad_Marx engine build. The 5 speed Trans and Transfer case were rebuilt by AAMCO and have about 3,000 miles on them. Some pics of the engine build/mods. Sorry no pics of the rest of the pickup yet. It was an Arizona truck so it's good and rust free, but the paint had bakes/oxidized to death, and the dash had cracked so I'm in the process of re-assembling the interior after removing the dash-re-capping it, mounting/wring a Clinometer, and getting all the gauges working in the SR5 Cluster.

I have not lifted it, and don't plan to. It currently has Big Foot A/T 31X10's on it mounted on cheap steel wheels, I'm looking for a set of original 84 SR5 Aluminum wheels.
I'll come back to this one and post some interior/exterior pics when I get done with the current drivetrain swap in Terc II.

How about a picture of the entire truck? I'm a fan :)

I always thought the half year 85's with straight axle and 22REFI trucks and 4runners were the holy grail. I'd guess 80% of this era truck has been turned into "crawlers" with bobbed beds and "swamper" tires.

Sounds like you have a real specimen :)

Will do emmahumpfritter, as soon as I get it out from under the current pile of Tercel4WD parts from the Terc II, engine-rebuild-swap-o-rama :)

It seems that my post here is quite late and I do apologize for that! I'm interested at the topic here. I've been looking for project pickup and fortunately I saw this thread. Just want to thank you for your post, I learned from this. There are so many SPAM as of these days but some people doesn't have any idea on how to use it. I'm looking forward for some updates of your vehicle. cheers!

EDIT - I removed your Spam.
