Recent finds in the Pacific NW

Post by johnvincent »

$1300, 1984, 166k in Everett
http://seattle.craigslist.org/sno/cto/3101729430.html - nice photos too

What do you guys think about the rusty spots? Can they be dealt with easily? I might consider seeing if I can scrounge up the cash to go and buy this thing later this weekend if it lasts that long.

I really love the look of this Corolla but it's an automatic. Did they make these with manual? I can't find 'em anywhere!

I like the '84 in Everett, looks just like mine when I bought it, low miles too. Seats look great. That bit of rust is not a problem, easy to fix. I would not wait on it, if it drives as nice as it looks it will sell in only a day.

the thing about rust is that it's a losing battle unless you undercoat the vehicle and then keep it in a garage when not in use. otherwise it will keep coming back. these cars are notorious for rust to begin with, plus they're all 25+ years old now, plus the pacific NW is a wet climate which exacerbates the problem, so you can fix those spots but more will come so i would personally not bother. i've learned to love a worn yet clean and 100% functional vehicle.

i just got a '90 all trac with manual trans. i like it a lot. i had an automatic and hated it. it does seem like there are less of the manuals, though.

the $2000 '85 with no pics in the ad sounds promising. if you're looking for a cream puff, i would check that one out.
