The car has been runnin' like a beast, takin' her up to the mountains every other day. Here's a nice pic of her up in Rocky Mountain National Park.
p.s. - small repair question: Is there suppose to be a bulb that illuminates the AC/vent controls section? Everything else on my console lights up except for this...
Anyway, glad I finally have her up-and-running...Mountain Driving

Re: Mountain Driving
nice picture.
Yes, there is a light behind the heater control console, 4 or 5 screws remove the trim which allows you to remove the 4 screws holding the face of the panel, which will expose the light.

Re: Mountain Driving
to change the heater control bulb, i remove the trim from around the controls, then pull the knobs from the controls off, and then use a flat head screwdriver to pry the face plate off the controls. you can pull then pull the bulb out but it's really tiny so you might carefully use needle nose pliers. only takes a few minutes.

Re: Mountain Driving
As I was pulling off the plate, the bulb with socket fell onto the floor, so it must've been loose or broken. I took the part to Autozone and they didn't have the specific bulb. They said I'd have to go through Toyota. Has anyone had any luck locating this specific bulb? If it fell off with the grey socket still attached to the bulb, are there any other parts I need?

Couple of guesses...a traditional parts store or even NAPA or CarQuest. Perhaps even Radio Shack - then try a car audio specialist.

Re: Mountain Driving
i've bought them from parts stores before but they have had to dig to find the right ones. two of my spares have different writing on them. one says
S14V
1.4W
and the other says
05 n9s
12/1.2
try those. if all else fails, go to a wrecker and pull a bunch there. i think a few of my spares are oldies.

Re: Mountain Driving
finally found the replacement, but the bulb which was behind the dash wasn't the same one that fell, or broke off when I was taking off the console...So I'm wondering what that lightbulb was from. It was this very small led bulb (even smaller than the 14v) and it had this small, plastic, circular base to it. My guess is that there's a separate bulb that illuminates the AC/Econo button? Anyway, I guess I'll know when it gets dark.

Re: Mountain Driving
There is an AC switch bulb shown in the electrical schematic in the FSM - in fact, there are two shown for ?
I don't think anyone has mentioned this before.
Tom M.
P.S. Post the bulb's number and brand in the Part Numbers, OE and AM, Forum - will be a help to others.

Re: Mountain Driving
Shoot, I hope I can find the bulb, but it looks like that it does in fact belong to the AC/ECONO button. Now, whenever I press it halfway, the AC just lights up. When it's all the way pressed in, the AC lights up, so no ECONO bulb now
When/if I can find that stupid bulb, I'll post it in the Parts Forum...
