LED taillights???

I've run those replacement LED 1157s in a few of my other vehicles and they are amazing! Seriously try a set before hacking and drilling some OEMs. It's not gonna give you that new-tech bling factor, but it sure lights up the factory tails like no tomorrow!

I just got 1157's and 1156's for the back, I will post a picture when they are in. I got the all metal, super-high powered 4 SMD model, and I got a blue one for the reverse light. Here is what I got...

And even though all of the light is going in one direction, I think it has the angle to light up the whole taillight.

So - does the blue one cast a blue beam? If so, it would seem kinda worthless for a backup light.

I think blue would look outstanding, because it is one of those high power 4 SMD metal ones, like the ebay link. You don't want to look directly into one.

Ok so I a m almost ready to start mocking up the lamps and since the prame part behind the lights is completely flat it will make it even better. I was also looking at making my parking/tail light in the shape of the old toyota emblem out of plexiglas and light it up I just have to see how I can shape it into what I want. Will keep you posted

I just got the 1157's in there, two different types (all metal 4 SMD and 60 SMD)...and I am not that impressed with the luminosity. They seem less than the incandescent. Hmm. I even remounted my 3rd brake light, and even that seems dim.

I want it to be so bright it blinds the driver behind me. Oh well. I can get a pic if anyone wants to see.

pictures please. I got some donated 3rd brake lamps with piranha led's and they are bright. For the back ip I got some 1W lamps from flash lights.

These are "200 lumen" 3 watt LEDs in the tail lights, and a smaller one in the 3rd.

I guess at night they aren't bad...but in the day I don't think they are good.
