My alt belt is starting to squeal quite a bit and I can see hairline cracks in it as well.
Just wondering to replace the alternator belt do we need to remove the power steering belt as well? I could not really find a lot of into in the FSM.
To remove the power steering pump belt so I remove the power steering pulley? This is my only form of transport so the last thing I want to tackle is removing the crank pulley since I don't want to blow up this motor lol.
Thanks guys I'm a little lost on this

Re: Alternator and PS pump belt replacement
I'm not sure if your engine is the same as mine, but I didn't have to remove any pulleys. There was a bolt on the PS pump that allows the whole thing to slide when you loosen it (I think it's in front near the top of the bracket). The AC belt has a pulley that is loosened by turning the bolt on top of it. Then the alternator belt can slide off.

Re: Alternator and PS pump belt replacement
Just did this on Saturday- There's a second adjuster bolt on the rear of the PS pump- They're both 14mm hex, also loosen the lower pivot bolt and you may have to deform the lower radiator hose a bit as well to get the PS belt off. Still need to do this on the wife's with the new engine though.
EDIT- I just remembered, do be sure to get the correct alternator belt- the bracketry is different between AC and non-AC cars, so the let is longer on ACs. Even if you've taken the AC compressor out, you'll still need the AC length belt.

Re: Alternator and PS pump belt replacement
Got both belts replaced.
I ended disconnecting the upper rad hose, and one end of the lower rad hose (side that connects to the engine). This gave me access to the rear power steering mount (two 12mm bolts, and one 14mm). If sometone is going to do this job, make sure you have a 14 and 12mm racheteting wrench, such a time saver. Once the power steering bump was free I gave it a few taps with a mallet/long piece of wood and pushed it a few inches towards the engine to loosen off the belt.
Keep in mind you'll want to tackel this job when your car is cold, esp if you disconnect these rad hoses. I figured my coolant is way old and needed a flush anyhow so I had lots of new coolant on hand. Have a fluid catcher underneath the vehicle.
Now my car feels good and sounds even better now
goodbye squeel
