hey bud. 4WD tercels were only made from '83-'88, i'm afraid. on top of that, they were all carbed and take some upkeep to keep up to snuff for emissions.

where are you located? i'll take a guess and say california.

Im retired , have worked on 2tc , 3kc , 22r , 22re , Karina , Corolla , sr5 pickup , Camry as well as a variety of others , rochester quadrajets , m21 muncies , GM 12 bolts , not very many areas of a car that I have not had to do something to . admittedly I have not been inside an auto trans. during the late 70's early 80's my daily driver was doing 10.20 in the 1/4 mile , Now I have reached retirement and become conservative . Im in Delaware , so most anything south or west of here deals with signifigantly less road salt than we do , I have trucked cars here from Az. as well as Ca. My search thru here is to not deal with your typical car dealer , or someone at an auction site , due to the more intimate knowledge of these cars , the transparency , knowledge , or honesty among members I feel would be better than at some sites. That is true, if someone here sells a T4WD, you could just pull up their posts and see what got fixed. :D

Auction sites are a hit and miss, but I have had great luck with Craigslist. People usually post the major problems, and are generally honest. A lot of old timers won't take emails and require calls...which usually means you won't get many pictures and will have to drive out there...but CL is a favorite of mine. You could post what you find here and get everyone's opinions on it, too.

A good trick is to make sure the physical inspection will pass, then put 1 oz of Acetone for every 10 gallons of gas in the tank. So like an ounce and a half of Acetone in a T4WD. I have heard it improves mileage and whatnot, but what it does very well is lower emissions. With times like that on the quarter, you probably know about it already.

Hey, Leo - Welcome to the Club! Always good to have another OF!
Since you are in the East, check out the SR5 currently on eBay with 32K miles in NY - look in our Cars For Sale Forum.
It's über-clean!

I just found this one, in CA, but it is "smogged" and from the SW...1988 model, the last year for the Tercel 4WD.
