1985 SR5 Gold/Tan in GREAT shape - New York State
I think he might be a little wacky on price...but it is in the best condition I have seen. 3A, no sunroof, dash clinometer.

Re: 1985 SR5 Gold/Tan in GREAT shape
WOW!
It is one of the absolute lowest-mileage T4WDs we've seen - Thanks!
It even has the luggage cover and the shifter boots are intact and not cracked.
I don't think the $3500 is out of line. It will be interesting to see what it goes for.
Wonder why the dist cap was replaced? The underside sure looks rustfree, which is unusual, esp. for NY. The pattern of rust on the prop shaft is odd - guesses?
Were it closer, I'd sure be tempted to throw in a bid!

Re: 1985 SR5 Gold/Tan in GREAT shape
i always get scared when i see cars this old with ridiculously low miles. i feel like they sit for years at a time and it just rots away from the inside. who ever buys this will have to replace the timing belt, seals, fluids, and other stuff. its a really nice car but i dont think its worth it. he wants over 4k for it if you read the description. when i look at toyotas and hondas i never care about the milage. i bought a paseo last year and put 40k miles on it since it now has 240k and runs perfect.

If the fact that it has no airbags and similar is not a worry (not to single moi), changes of all fluids, hoses, and belts (internal and external) and flushing the cooling system is a small price to pay for an essentially 2to3-year old car.

Re: 1985 SR5 Gold/Tan in GREAT shape - New York State
The last Tercel4wd on Ebay in this condition and this low of miles sold for $10,800, so $4000 is a great deal. looks nice.
I would say the rust on only one side of the drive shaft was from driving it on snowy roads with de-icer on it, and than parking it and forgetting about it for several years. Perhaps they hosed off the underside and did not clean it off the upper side of the drive shaft at the time.
Anyone notice the one picture with the inclinometer on the dash, and than a bunch without? That year should not have one, but there it is in one picture of the dash. looks like perhaps the current owner had other pictures from an earlier year that got mixed in with these pics.

The ad stated that an inclinometer came with the car but "installation was available." Maybe the seller bought the 'meter for his own use of the car and then decided to sell the car after noticing how much money he could make off what he thought was just another econobox. Wonder how much the estate sold it for - prob not realizing the resale potential.

Holy moly! $10,800. That's insane. I gues toyotas hold their value way more than I ever thought. I didn't know there were so many t4wd lovers out there. I suspect they will only increase more in value over time, especially with gas prices constantly rising everyday these car will always be a good investment for anybody.Petros wrote:The last Tercel4wd on Ebay in this condition and this low of miles sold for $10,800, so $4000 is a great deal. looks nice.

This is the link to the thread on the $10800 T4WD in NC: https://tercel4wd.com/forums/viewtopic.php? ... ngatrailer
Note that the March, 2011, eBay link is long-gone, but the Bring A Trailer link still works: http://bringatrailer.com/2011/03/06/198 ... ercel-4wd/ Only one photo, but with a long list of interesting comments - some kind, some not-so-kind.
And - the NY car has 5K fewer miles than the NC one! As I recall, the latter was used as a "bad weather" delivery car for a pharmacy in a small town (no snow = no salt = no rust).

Wow, 10 large for a Tercel 4WD...I am blown away. If you paid that much for it, would you want to trick it out, or take it off road?
Oddly, I still dig mine more. I have a sunroof!
Never been a big fan of the tan/gold combo...but I definitely thought that the trunk cover was cool.

ARCHINSTL: Now this vehicle would be a greaaaatt companion to either of our Goldies
.
It has very low mileage, but I felt like the '84 that went for $10k was a bit more special in terms of how well it was preserved. Nevertheless, if the transmission shifts well and is quiet, it would be well-worth a hefty price tag. It's hard to find clean examples like these, they seldom seem to show up.

That gold one is a great find, I hope the seller gets a lot for it.

Well - as Neu reported, the seller did kick in 30 (!) simoleons to maintaining our site and intimated further contributions, so - cut him a lot of slack.
And remember that the NC one, with 5K more miles, went for almost $11K last year.
