I believe ours are lower compression too...

They need such stuff to lower emissions ????

Here a catalized car, after 1992 must stay under 0.5%CO at idle and under 0.3% CO at 3000rpm.

My Tercel has been inspected last week at 0.16% CO at idle.

Don't believe the new-car dealers and keep your Tercel on the roads. !

I've taken my stock and poorly tuned terk to 90mph. I don't like the way it feels on the highway at high speeds though. I don't know if my shocks are worn out or if it's just that I'm taking it beyond it's limits.

Heh. I live by a nice curving downhill 4 mile stretch followed by a slight hill then another 2 miles of just off of level downhill. I reached a oh-so-grand high speed of 111 mph. I think my speedo is off though, when going indicated 40 those radar- speed limit signs are saying 38. Thats still a pretty good tilt for my old 186k mile baby eh?

If I have a long time straight stretch (aka I5 between Salem, Oregon and Eugene Or) I can get my 84 tercel wagon to about 90 in 5th, closer to 100 in 4th and then hold it in 5th. (I will have to have my g/f take video of the speedometer sometime) and got up to an estimated 135 (right near redline 5th gear..maybe a lil over?) mph going down a large hill that drops from a little over 850 feet above seal level to 460 above sea level in just 1.5 miles...so 360 foot drop, and I was already going near 70 at the top of the hill...long flat top. took another 1/4 to come to a stop...so Tercel brakes are not designed to stop quickly from 135 mph.
them: so you're telling me your tercel has 1.5 liters...where as my pepsi has two?

me: yes, can you seat 5 people in your pepsi...and does it have 4WD? oh...my bad

I think we have a winner!! :)

Thats awesome!! I don't think I even went that fast in my supercharged AE86 that I had. Although I never really had a chance either. Too much traffic around here.

Yup, for 3A. I know you went faster, but you had over 3 times the hp. :P
